I'm a software engineer with 7+ years of professional experience with a passion for scalable web services, debugging, and mentoring. I'm looking for my next role in Seattle!
I'm looking for a role with an impactful engineering team building a product that makes the world a better place.Ideally you:
I'm available starting mid-September 2019.
Seattle, WA. I grew up here and just moved back after more than a decade away and am looking forward to putting down roots here.
I left my wonderful job at Nava PBC in June to pursue a lifelong dream of mine -- going on a long distance bicycle tour. My partner and I rode our bikes, with all of our gear loaded on, 1,700 miles from Portland, ME, to Minneapolis, MN, over the course of 6 weeks. We then spent the next few weeks with family, hiking, and generally taking a breather.
I've been an individual contributor, an Engineering Lead, and everything in-between. I love to debug complex problems, build scalable systems, and mentor junior engineers. I've been working on backend web services for most of my career, having built a variety of high-performance applications in a range of technologies. I love designing resilient production systems as well as robust on-call processes and procedures to handle issues when the systems inevitably fail. I love to learn from others and I welcome critical feedback as much as possible. I'm most comfortable programming with Python and Node.js, but I love to learn and would be willing to take on just about any modern stack. I enjoy writing, editing, and advocating for Oxford commas.
Outside of work, I like to read, ride my bike, play chess, hike, and watch basketball.
If you think I’d be a good fit for your team, please email me at samskeller[at]gmail[dot]com
